Energy recovery
Energy recovery ventilators from BPE provide fresh pre-conditioned makeup air while recovering valuable heating or cooling BTUs from stale exhaust air.
The technology of heat or energy recovery has been a viable idea for over twenty years. It has been prevented from becoming common practice due to high initial cost, fragmented product choices, high operating costs and problematic cross contamination.
Advances in energy recovery by BPE have changed the playing field to make these products more economically feasible. BPE energy recovery ventilators provide:
- High thermal efficiencies
- No cross contamination
- Superior long term durability
- No moving parts (except two small in-line fans)
Cooling EER of over 30 and heating EER of over 60 (compared to 10 for other systems)
BPE energy recovery ventilators work by drawing stale indoor air the return air supply of the AHU and passing it through a high efficiency polymer heat exchanger where incoming fresh air is thermally conditioned.
The heat exchanger design insures that up to 90% thermal effectiveness is achievable without mixing of air streams. Stale air is ducted away from the makeup air intake to prevent re-contamination of the fresh air supply.
National codes and building standards require a prescribed amount of fresh outdoor air per person that occupies the structure. More fresh outdoor air generally means less indoor air pollution and better indoor air quality.
Indoor air pollution is ranked by the US Environmental Protection Agency among the top five environmental risks to human health. The World Health Organization estimates that nearly one in every six commercial buildings in the United States suffers from sick-building syndrome and that occupants of another one in twelve suffer from building-related illnesses. Indoor air quality problems cost American business $10 billion per year through lowered productivity, absenteeism, and medical costs. Moreover, compliance with ASHRAE Standard 62 demands higher indoor air turnover rates, thus making the need for heat recovery even greater
BPE is the industry leader in state of the art air to air energy recovery with polymer core, fixed plate technology. Marspec Technical Products is the source for BPE energy rcovery ventilators on the Gulf Coast.
